Why Juniper Wood?

Juniper has a lovely smell (although this will fade with time). The patterns in the juniper wood and the fantastic smoothness give the handle a lovely tactile feel. The smell/ taste does not transfer to foodstuffs in contact with the wood, and the natural essential oil in the wood has antibacterial properties. The wood has a smooth texture with close grain and combines durability and beauty. Utensils made from this are a real pleasure to use and you are sure to get asked where you got them from as they are so unusual!

Juniper (and Alder and Oak) utensils last far longer than the cheap pine versions and are a real pleasure to use! I have had lots of repeat custom for these at medieval trade events, often as gifts for someone who has seen and admired one in use!

Wooden utensils are an ideal gift for those who love country cooking. They are safe to use with expensive cookware and will not scratch non-stick.
